The wiki describes the Neutral, True Pacifist and Genocide routes. The player can venture to the surface neutrally, genocidally or peacefully, and different characters appear as bosses or antagonists depending on the route.

How should I rank Undertale characters?

Common criteria include personality, boss fight design, music, story impact and humor. Many fans compare major characters separately from minor ones, because minibosses and vendors play a different role.
