  1. Kris

    The human Lightner and main protagonist who leads the party in the Dark World. They are presumed to be the Hero of Light in the Prophecy, fight with a sword, and are best at ACTing in battle.

  2. Susie

    A Lightner from Hometown who is one of the two deuteragonists, alongside Ralsei. She is the monster Hero of Light in the Legend of Deltarune, fights with an axe, and works as the party's bruiser.

  3. Ralsei

    A Darkner who claims to be the "Prince from the Dark" from the Prophecy and is the other deuteragonist. His attacks are weaker, but he casts healing spells and fights with a scarf.

  4. Noelle

    Noelle Holiday is Kris's classmate, neighbor and childhood friend. She plays a minor role in Chapter 1 but becomes major in Chapter 2, when she temporarily joins the party and wields a ring.

  5. Lancer

    A Darkner child from Card Kingdom and the son of the Spade King. He starts out as a secondary antagonist in Chapter 1, but ends up befriending the party and joining them.

  6. King

    Also called Chaos King, he is the main antagonist of Chapter 1 and Lancer's father. He wants to protect the Eastern Fountain and invade the world with darkness, and ends up in the dungeon.

  7. Queen

    The Darkner ruler of Cyber World and the main antagonist of Chapter 2. She plans to cover the Light World in darkness, and uses her GIGA Queen mecha in the final fight on the normal route.

  8. Berdly

    A blue-feathered Lightner who calls himself the "Number 1" student in school, and is Noelle's study partner. In Chapter 2 he starts as an ally of Queen, but ultimately becomes an ally of the party.

  9. Rouxls Kaard

    A Darkner from the Card Kingdom who calls himself the "Duke of Puzzles" and serves King in Chapter 1. His puzzles are trivially easy, and he later follows the party to the Cyber World.

  10. Jevil

    A former court jester from Card Kingdom who descended into insanity and came to believe the world is a simple game. Seam locked him away, and he is the bonus boss of Chapter 1.

  11. Spamton

    A homeless, unhinged Darkner salesman from the Cyber World who first appears in Cyber City. He is a boss on the normal route and the main antagonist of the Weird Route in Chapter 2.

  12. Toriel

    A returning character from Undertale, and the mother of Kris and Asriel. She is divorced from Asgore and lives in a neatly kept house at the northern end of Hometown.

  13. Asgore

    A returning character from Undertale and the father of Kris and Asriel. He is the ex-husband of Toriel, and lives alone in the Flower King flower shop in Hometown.

  14. Alphys

    Another Undertale returnee who teaches Kris's class at Hometown's school. She is shy, often stutters, and makes self-deprecating jokes, while trying her best to guide her students.

    A returning Undertale character who is the Chief of Police in Hometown. She is a blue-skinned fish-like monster with a long red ponytail, and unlike her Undertale self she has both eyes visible.

  16. Catti

    Catti Cattenheimer is a cat-like monster and the younger sister of Catty. She speaks in short, unresponsive replies while using her phone, and dislikes her sister's ukulele playing.

  17. Jockington

    A snake-like Lightner from Hometown with no limbs and a long green body. He is in Alphys's class, runs on the Cross Country team with Noelle, and is Catti's best friend.

  18. Tenna

    Mr. Tenna is the Dreemurr household's old CRT TV in the Dark World, and the host of TV Time. He is the main antagonist of Chapter 3, and he makes a deal with Kris and the Knight.

  19. Mike

    An unseen character first mentioned by Spamton in Chapter 2, then repeatedly by Tenna in Chapter 3. In Chapter 4 the role turns out to be shared by a trio of different monsters.

  20. Gerson

    A returning Undertale character who appears in Chapter 4 as a spirit in the Dark Sanctuaries. He was a blacksmith before becoming a renowned author and historian, known for the Lord of the Hammer series.

  21. Tasque Manager

    A cybernetic, cat-like Darkner mini-boss encountered in Queen's Mansion in the Cyber World. Her name is a pun on "task manager."

About Deltarune

Deltarune is a role-playing game by Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale, released in chapters. You play Kris, who is joined by Susie and Ralsei in the Dark World.

Fans often rank Deltarune characters by how likable they are, how memorable their boss fight is, or how good their music is. Since the game is still released in chapters, new characters may join the list later.

What is Deltarune?

Deltarune is an episodic role-playing game by Toby Fox, set in a parallel universe to Undertale. It follows Kris, Susie and Ralsei, and uses a turn-based battle system with bullet hell mechanics and peaceful options.

Do these write-ups contain spoilers?

They describe character roles through the latest released chapters, so some details about antagonists and story roles are mentioned. If you are still playing, you may want to skip the entries for characters you have not met yet.

Why is this list likely to change over time?

Deltarune is released in chapters. The first two came out as free demos in 2018 and 2021, chapters three and four arrived in 2025, and the fifth in June 2026, so new characters may appear later.
