Text Tier List Maker

A text tier list maker ranks words, names, and short phrases by dragging them into labeled rows called tiers. It has 4 main parts: a multi-line text box, an unranked items pool, 5 default tiers (S, A, B, C, D), and a Portable Network Graphics (PNG) export button. The main benefits are speed, no image uploads, and no account. People use it for game rankings, classroom debates, team brainstorms, and content priority lists.

Unranked items

Drag items into a tier — or tap an item, then tap a tier.

Your list saves automatically in this browser. Double-click an item (or press F2) to edit its text.

Make a Tier List with Text — No Images Needed

You can make a tier list with text in 4 steps: type an item, add it to the pool, drag it into a tier, and download the PNG. A text-only tier list needs no images, no cropping, and no file cleanup. One paste adds up to 100 words, names, or ideas, written one per line or separated by commas.

The text tier list maker is free, needs no login, and adds no watermark to the downloaded image.

What is Text Tier List Maker

A text tier list maker is an online tool that ranks text items in tiers from S (best) to D (worst). It replaces images with words, names, ideas, or short phrases, so a ranking takes minutes with no image gathering. The tool has 3 core abilities:

  • Text-based ranking sorts abstract ideas, names, categories, and opinions with no pictures.

  • Free access needs no account, no credit card, and no download.

  • Local saving keeps your list in the browser's local storage after you close the tab.

How to use it?

To use the text tier list maker, add items, drag them into tiers, adjust the tiers, and download the image. The process has 5 parts. Select a part to try it on the practice board.

Why Choose Our Text Tier List Maker

Our text tier list maker has 4 main advantages: fast entry, flexible input formats, smooth drag and drop, and a simple item pool.

Quick Entry System

Type a word and select Add, or press Enter. The item reaches the pool at once, with no file upload and no waiting.

Multiple Format Options

The maker accepts 3 input formats: single items, lists with one item per line, and comma-separated lists. It exports 1 output format, a PNG image. Tier labels take any text, from S, A, B, C, D to Must Play, Good, Skip.

Intuitive Drag & Drop

Drag an item from the pool into a tier, or between tiers, with a mouse or a finger. On mobile devices, tap an item, then tap a tier. On a keyboard, press Enter to select an item and use the arrow keys to move it.

Efficient Library Management

The Unranked items pool holds every item that has no tier yet and shows a count. Items return to the pool when you drag them back. Reset moves every ranked item back to the pool in 1 click, and New list clears the board to 5 empty tiers.

Usage Tips

These 6 tips make a text tier list clearer and faster to build:

  1. Rank the clear extremes first: place the best items in S and the worst in D, then sort the middle.

  2. Keep S tier to the top few items, so the list shows a real difference between tiers.

  3. Rename the tiers to fit the topic, for example Must Play, Good, Skip, or Strong, Average, Weak.

  4. Use short items of 1 to 4 words, so each one stays readable on the board and in the PNG.

  5. Select Reset to move all ranked items back to the pool and start the ranking again.

  6. Download the PNG before clearing browser data, since clearing site data removes the saved list.

Ways to Use a Text Tier List

A text tier list fits 6 main uses, including classroom debates, game rankings, and team brainstorms:

  • Classroom debates: rank historical events, books, or arguments and compare the results as a class.

  • Game rankings: rank characters, weapons, maps, or whole games, from Valorant agents to Smash Ultimate fighters.

  • Team brainstorms: rank ideas, project phases, or feature requests and see the group's priorities on one board.

  • Content priority lists: rank video topics, blog post ideas, or posting dates to choose what to make first.

  • Entertainment and food picks: rank restaurants, movies, songs, or snacks with friends.

  • Names and words: rank baby names, band names, slang, or any list of words.

For pictures instead of words, use the tier list maker with images. For ready-made item lists, browse the tier list categories.

Each of these tier lists loads its items as text, ready to drag into tiers.
