    The king of Ithaca and captain of the Ithacan army, which fought in the ten-year Trojan War. He is the main protagonist of EPIC: The Musical, which is primarily based on Homer's Odyssey.

    The Queen of Ithaca, wife of Odysseus and mother of Telemachus. She is brilliant, resilient and strong-willed, and outwits the 108 suitors vying for her hand with sharp intellect and creativity.

  3. Telemachus

    The prince of Ithaca, son of Odysseus and Penelope, and a friend and student of Athena. An idealistic young man, he dreams of being a legend to live up to his absent father.

  4. Athena

    The goddess of wisdom and strategy, an Olympian and daughter of Zeus. She is Odysseus's former mentor, and the overarching protagonist of several sagas, including the Troy and Cyclops Sagas.

  5. Poseidon

    The god of the sea and storms and father of many sea monsters, including Polyphemus. He is one of the main antagonists, and is self-centered, angry and vengeful, often terrorizing sailors and port towns.

  6. Polites

    Odysseus's best friend and a soldier in his army. He grew up with Odysseus in Ithaca, and in "Your Light" we learn that Odysseus once saved him from a boar sent by Athena.

  7. Eurylochus

    Second in command of Odysseus's crew and the deuteragonist. He acts as the voice of the crew and does what the majority wants, even against orders, which ultimately dooms the crew.

  8. Circe

    A divine sorceress and the queen of the island of Aeaea. She lives there with local nymphs, uses her magic to protect their home from intruders, and is the main antagonist of The Circe Saga.

  9. Calypso

    A minor goddess and sea nymph who lives alone on the island of Ogygia, as punishment for supporting her father Atlas and the Titans. She kept Odysseus there for seven years, and calypso music represents her.

  10. Hermes

    The god of merchants, travelers and thieves and Messenger of the Gods, an Olympian and a son of Zeus. He is Odysseus's great-grandfather, and offers the flower moly to help defeat Circe.

  11. Zeus

    The overarching antagonist, king of Olympus and god of the sky, thunder and justice. In The Troy Saga he shows Odysseus a vision of Astyanax, the son of Hector, killing him.

  12. Apollo

    The god of light, music, archery, healing and prophecy, one of the twelve Olympians. He serves as "Level 1" of Zeus's test for Athena during God Games, a prerequisite for saving Odysseus.

  13. Scylla

    A six-headed sea monster on one side of a narrow channel, across from Charybdis. She was once a beautiful nymph, until Circe transformed her out of jealousy over the sea god Glaucus.

  14. Polyphemus

    A man-eating cyclops and the main villain of The Cyclops Saga, who tends the sheep in the cave the lotus eaters direct Odysseus's crew toward. A cello with a backing synth represents him.

  15. Antinous

    The leader of Penelope's 108 suitors and the secondary antagonist. The most disrespectful and belligerent of them, he has no respect for Telemachus or Penelope, treating the prince like a servant.

  16. Eumaeus

    In Greek mythology, Eumaeus is Odysseus's slave, swineherd and friend, whose name means "searching well." His father, Ctesius, was king of an island called Syra, present-day Syros in the Cyclades.

  17. Aeolus

    The God of Wind and king of the floating island of Aeolia, a stop on Odysseus's journey home. Eurylochus later dooms the crew by opening Aeolus's windbag.

  18. Ares

    The god of war and courage, an Olympian and the son of Zeus and Hera. He is the lover of Aphrodite, and serves as "Level 4" of Zeus's test for Athena during God Games.

    The queen of Olympus and goddess of marriage and family, sister and wife of Zeus. She is the mother of Hephaestus and Ares, fostered Athena, and serves as "Level 5" of the test.

    The Queen of Ithaca, mother of Odysseus and grandmother of Telemachus. She appears only as a soul in the Underworld Saga, where she is indicated to have been a very loving mother.

EPIC: The Musical tier list questions

What is EPIC: The Musical?

It is a musical by Jorge Rivera-Herrans based primarily on Homer's Odyssey, following Odysseus on his journey home from the Trojan War. It is organized into sagas, such as the Troy, Cyclops and Circe Sagas.

Does this list have spoilers?

It mentions roles and some events in each saga, such as who the antagonists are and what happens in the Underworld. If you have not heard the full musical yet, you may want to skip those entries.

How should I rank EPIC characters?

Common criteria include songs, voice performance, character arc and how well they fit the story. Many fans rank the Ithacans, the gods and the monsters separately.
