Which X-Men on this list are founding members?

Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Iceman and Angel, who first appeared in The X-Men #1 in 1963, are founding members. Professor X founded the team, and Magneto first appeared in the same issue as an adversary.

How should I rank X-Men characters?

Common criteria include power, character arc, design, team role and favorite stories. Many fans also compare heroes and villains separately, because characters like Magneto and Mystique are written as adversaries of the team.
