About MCU

The Marvel Cinematic Universe began with Iron Man in 2008 and grew into a shared series of films. The first three phases, known as the Infinity Saga, built to Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

Ranking MCU movies is a classic tier list topic because the films range from tightly focused origin stories to huge crossovers. Decide whether you rank by overall quality, rewatchability or how important the movie is to the story.

What to consider when you rank movies

  • Story and pacing
  • Character moments
  • Rewatchability
  • Importance to the wider story
  • Visual effects and action

MCU tier list questions

How many films are on this MCU tier list?

This list has 34 films, from Iron Man in 2008 to Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024. It covers the theatrical movies only, so Disney+ series such as WandaVision and Loki are not included in the ranking.

Should I rank MCU movies by release date or story order?

Release order is the usual way to list them, since it follows how the franchise was built. Some fans also rank by in-universe timeline, but that changes the order for films like Captain America: The First Avenger.

What makes a good MCU movie tier list?

Pick a rule before you rank, such as story, action, rewatch value or how well a film fits the wider franchise. That keeps your list consistent and makes it easier to compare with friends.
