Phones tier list questions

Why does this list rank brands and lines, not single models?

Phone models are replaced every year, so a ranking of single models would be outdated quickly. Ranking lines such as the iPhone or Pixel keeps the list useful, and you can rank current models separately.

Why are prices and market share mostly left out?

Prices and market share change every year. The write-ups describe each line's history and identity, with only a few widely reported facts and dates from Wikipedia.

How should I rank phones?

Common criteria include camera quality, performance, software, design, battery life, repairability and value. Many people rank by what they care about most, such as camera or price.
