Laptops tier list questions
Why does the laptop list leave out specs and prices?
Laptop lines are refreshed every year with new chips and prices, so spec sheets go stale quickly. The write-ups describe each line's identity and history, and you can check current specs and reviews separately.
Why are discontinued lines like the HP Spectre on the list?
Many people still own or remember these lines, so they stay on the list, and the write-ups state when a line was phased out. Check the maker's site for current replacements.
How should I rank laptops?
Common criteria include build quality, battery life, display, keyboard, performance, portability and value. Many people rank by use case, such as ultraportables, gaming laptops or repairable laptops.
